Now more than ever, we’re seeking comfort, connection, and excitement from travel. Travel can sometimes be overlooked – but it has the potential to offer so much. From quick weekend getaways to long adventures immersing yourself in the different cultures of the world, travel can provide many new lessons and perspectives, no matter what we’re in search of.
Whether you’re dreaming of relaxing on a sandy beach or taking a tour of Scandinavia, no dream destination is too small. In this post, the writers behind TuGo’s blog have come together to share their dream vacation spots for 2026.

Experiencing the wonders of Japan

With seemingly endless travel destinations to choose from, it was hard to narrow things down to just one dream spot for 2026. But with its unbeatable culinary scene, natural wonders, and rich history, Japan sits at the very top of my list.

There’s an ever-growing checklist of foods I’d like to eat in Japan; Tonkotsu ramen, mochi pounded by hand, the viral omurice from Kichi Kichi Omurice in Kyoto. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it! The nature in Japan is also worth daydreaming about. I’d love to bask in the wonder of Mount Fuji, cycle on the Shimanami Kaido, and lie on the beaches of Okinawa. Last but not least are the historical and cultural landmarks throughout Japan. Taking in the beautiful architecture of Himeji Castle and walking through the torii gates at the Fushimi Inari Shrine would be spectacular.

Exploring the magic of St. Lucia

St. Lucia has quietly worked its way onto my 2026 travel bucket list, and honestly, it feels long overdue. As someone from the Caribbean, I’m always drawn to discovering more of the region, but St. Lucia has a pull that feels unique. The island blends culture, warmth, and breathtaking landscapes in a way that sets it apart from everywhere else.
The island’s union of culture, a warm and welcoming spirit, and stunning natural beauty is certainly hard to resist. I love that St. Lucia offers both adventure and calm, volcanic mud baths, waterfalls, lush hikes, and then long, lazy afternoons at Sugar Beach. That kind of rhythm feels like home to me—exactly the kind of slow, grounding Caribbean magic I crave.
And of course, the food. Caribbean cuisine is already in my DNA, so I can’t wait to dive into St. Lucia’s flavours, fresh seafood, unique local dishes, and the famous green figs and saltfish, their national dish. I know I’ll be tasting my way around the island from the moment I land. It feels like the kind of trip where culture, comfort, and natural wonders all come together, simple, inviting, and exactly the kind of experience I love.

Basking in the sunshine of Greece

Greece has always been at the top of my list, year after year. And for the longest time, I thought it was too far-fetched of a destination to visit anytime soon. But for 2026, it feels like the time is finally right. From fresh olives to creamy feta and bright blue seas, I’ve been told by many that Greece is nothing short of magical. I look forward to waking up to a beautiful view, wandering the cobblestone streets, spending time beachside, and browsing all the beautiful souvenirs.
For a balanced mix of history, beaches, great views and relaxation, some of the areas on my list to visit are Athens, Santorini, Naxos and Crete. This mixed itinerary would be sure to include pristine beaches, ancient ruins, unforgettable sunsets, and ideally, the best olive oil I’ll ever taste! If you have any specific spots to recommend in Greece, I’d love to hear them in the comments below.

Wandering the small towns of Colombia

Next winter, I’m heading back to Colombia with my husband and our friends. Last year, I only made it to the magnificent Cartagena, but this time, I’m excited to explore Antioquia, the region home to Medellín. Nestled in the Andes, it’s full of vibrant small towns worth discovering. I might even return to Cartagena, as my last visit left a strong impression.
I’m also planning a European trip with my parents for next year. Ireland has been at the top of my list, so that may be our pick. I specifically want to visit the beautiful city of Cork.
I’m considering a solo trip to Japan as well. I’ve visited Kyoto twice, and it remains one of my favourite places. I’d love to spend a week there with absolutely no agenda—simply wandering its gorgeous streets and really soaking in the atmosphere.

Embracing the beauty of Iceland

Iceland has been on my travel wish list for years, and 2026 feels like the perfect time to finally explore this incredible land of fire and ice. The country offers a breathtaking blend of volcanic landscapes, glaciers, waterfalls, and geothermal wonders, all working in harmony to create an atmosphere that feels almost otherworldly. Every corner of Iceland seems designed to inspire—whether through its dramatic scenery or the peaceful stillness to its wide-open spaces.
Reykjavík, with its colourful houses, unique Nordic charm, and lively culinary scene, would be my ideal starting point. From there, I’d love to take in some of the country’s most iconic natural highlights: the Golden Circle, the black-sand beaches of Vík, and spectacular waterfalls like Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss. These landscapes are the kind that stay with you long after you’ve returned home.

I’m also excited to experience Iceland’s evolving cuisine—fresh seafood, tender lamb, skyr, and warm rye bread baked in geothermal heat. Whether it’s soaking in hot springs, chasing the Aurora Borealis, or simply enjoying the natural beauty of the countryside, Iceland promises an unforgettable and inspiring adventure.
Based on the wide array of destinations listed above, our bloggers definitely seem to be adventurous travellers! Whether a lively visit to Japan is up your alley, or exploring the small towns of Colombia is more your vibe, that’s the beauty of a bucket list – it’s specific to you, and the options are endless! We hope this blog post has inspired you and broadened your search for your 2026 dream destinations. We wish you a very happy new year and a full year of travel ahead!
Safe travels,
